Employment Prospects after working at UOP

Are employers (not for-profits) reluctant to higher UOP employees? Especially in higher-ed? I don't know. I hope not. Unless one is a C-Level employee, the experience is comparable and valuable, and their hands shouldn't be dirty. But could potential employers be concerned about bad habits and practices they perceive a UOP employee might have adopted? I don't know.

Bridgeport?? Started by an UOP employee, and many top UOP staff are there. Worth a try.

I wad just hired to another company as they love to recruit from UoP. Dont listen to the naysayers (sp?). Despite UOPs reputation(its not as bad as people make it out to be), the vast training you have makes you very valiable to specific employers - sales being one of them. Theres light at the end of the tunnel.

I was able to job at a state university with no problem after I was let go from UOP. I don’t even have a degree, they were just happy with the 8 years of experience I had. It just depends on how well you sell yourself on your resume and on how the person hiring feels about UOP. Maybe I just got lucky.

I found a comparable job at a small college three weeks after I was let go. This was a few years ago. I’ve had no problem with my masters being from UOPX. Interestingly, I’ve had admissions ask me about metrics being used at UOPX. Not to mirror, but to think through what could be measured. Some more hard core academics hold their nose up at me, but they’d do that anyway.

So, I'm walking past Sandlot's office. This guy does so much coke its sad. I'm thinking this is one of our upper management? He sounds like a 50 year smoker. He says he parties with his boss Bronsonian and asking the director in their with him who is in the cool crowd (will do anything they say) and who we need to let go. These guys have no clue? Then Sandlot says he doesn't care cause his family has millions in real estate and he's just collecting his paycheck to till the ship sinks.....These are our leaders? Their being told from executives that the new systems will allow for less and less people. What they don't realize is that its great people that make a great company. Wonder why UOP is 4th hated......there you go.

I was able to get a really great sales job. My new company was impressed by the fact that I was able to sell so many people on fake degrees.

Put Apollo Group on your resume, it isn’t as well known.

Oh yes, you WILL find it difficult to get a job elsewhere, especially if you've worked there for a decent length of time and choose to stay in the higher ed field. Is it fair? Absolutely not. But the reputation of UPX has been so irrevocably damaged by those who've since golden parachuted out of the organization. Accept the fact that you will most likely have an uphill battle finding something new. But it CAN be done. And you'll be happier for it once you land somewhere else, where your experience and skill set are appreciated. Trust.
