I've been displaced but recently noticed a lot of "new" Co Mgr positions posted.

They have to have new job reqs for the co managers that they moved. And probably to fill some of the stores that some co managers turned down.
From what I understand (hearsay), the CO position was not completely eliminated, but restructured to only be in high volume locations. Displaced COs, who were not immediately let go, can apply for those positions.
They're being that brazen about it, huh?
Hmmm..........This might end up being a series of bloody lawsuits after all. I do wonder, tho: did the pay-outs include language forbidding any legal action, that buy accepting the $$ you basically nullify any extra recourse? I bet it did
