You jack asses need to realized that layoffs are being done across all telecom. Go read the Verizon and ATT boards. Windstream my not have their ducks in a row but it isnt any better anywhere else
Good post Howard and I would say you are spot on...from past history, it does appear Windstream lays off prior to their earnings call. According to their declining stocks, I would think these lay offs will continue until either the company is acquired and/or files bankruptcy. Such a shame...but being a former employee who decided to exit in November ... the upper management teams along with the CEO have NO idea how to run this company except into the ground. It is a total shame...wishing the very best to those employees who remain and have dedicated/invested so much time to this Company!
Friday they posted that they are going to announce earnings (...or lack their of) on February 22nd. Tradationally anytime there is a major layoff it coencides with the earnings call a week prior. Those effected will work through the the March 2nd payroll. Everyone should expect a week of severance per year worked capped at 12 years. There really are no divisions or assets to spin off for cash at this point. The company has 2 choices at this point bankruptcy or acquisition. This round will affect 10% of the workforce or about a 1000 people.
i've been with the company 15 years and what i hating seeing is someone who's been here for 1 year training a 20 years employee. That's backward. If you're here for 20 years and have been outdated with technology, I dont feel bad at all if you're laid off. It's a business at the end of the day, you need to know how to do your job and do it well. Try to see it as if it was your business people!! you dont keep leeches. I've been through many laid offs and from what i've seen, it's usually the weakest link that gets laid off. Strive to be the best not the bare minimal. Every now and then you see someone knowledgeable get laid off but it happens. Mistakes are bound to be made in business. If you get laid off, blame it on yourself for not being up to industry standards to find another job, not the company. Put some effort and invest in yourself for once and stop pointing finger. Go run your own business if you're not happy.
Pretty sure the rumors are true certain department workloads have been slashed
The stock keeps dropping but the vp”s keep saying windstream is a growth company. The definition of insane is you keep doing the same thing expecting different results each time. Maybe its not the workers but the insane people up top that needs to be let go.
Rumor has it day after Valentines will be the next blood bath.... probably another one after that assuming the total reduction is aimed at 1000 this year.
2/15 is the traditional RIF day for Earthlink.
