If you don't mind relocating outside California like some of us from the Qualcomm Nov 20, 2015 layoff of 5,00+ employees, the ones of who were located in SD, there are High Tech Companies in the Portland Oregon area: Hillsboro, Aloha and Beaverton. There is also the Sacramento/Roseville/Folsom area of California too.

Trump plans to boost defense spending. The government contractors will absorb most people. AMSL/Cymer and ViaSat will cherry pick some top technology folks. Long timers with lots of stock will just retire. Its not like QCOM hasn't dumped a load of folks before.

SD overall housing market will not be affected that much, Mira Mesa will see a bigger hit than most of SD.

Rising interest rates and the new tax deduction limit will impact the market more than a few thousand Q ex employees going back to India.
