Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Who is your contracted cleaning company for your sears store?

I believe ours is KBS

Does KBS own the scrubber?

Why would there be a battle to fix the scrubber is the cost of repair passed on to sears?

Scrubber is broken so why would cleaning crew not borrow machine from another store close by?

With clean in bright in effect why would the floors not be a concern? How can you have a clean and bright store with floors encrusted with dirt and salt? I am certain customers notice too!

Our floors have never been this bad!

@3qzp Thanks for the history. Evidence of Sears mismanagement going back decades, letting so much equipment languish for so long for such minor issues.

Our old district hired KBS after each store having their own crew for years. KBS brought in their own equipment and buried the stores stuff in the equipment rooms. The 1960s era scrubbers and buffers sat for decades. Some missing parts, some needing repairs. When the equipment rooms were gutted during a 1990s remodel, the cleaning machines were due to get tossed. I asked for the stuff and was given it by the store. Most only needed small repairs. The buffers were simple fixes and the floor scrubbers were left for KBS , with a list of parts to buy to put back in service. If they ever did that I cannot say.

@nle Wow. I've been to hundreds of convenience stores for a previous job, and even they all managed to keep their floors cleaner than that (at least in the customer area). I bet they all see a lot more foot traffic per square foot than Sears, too.

It is beyond sad!

Why wd a store manager allow the floors to get so grimy you can draw “ wash me” in them. Lol

That’s how much you think of your members!

@xjx This is all hilariously sad.

We used to have KBS, but no longer. The 2 people who 'clean' the floor use wet mops--no scrubbers. The employee restrooms are only cleaned once a month.

We have a "buffer and vacuum cleaner" junkyard in the back. None of them work. KBS doesn't buff pur floors because they are all broken and they have to use a vacuum that was returned by a customer and taken off of 991 since every single vacuum of theirs had broken.

Tons of this kind of stuff in the back among our own junk that we wont get rid of.

Supposedly the KBS manager is supposed to come get their broken down stuff but it has been here for years. Six scrubbers and I dont know how many vacuums, maybe 10?

If you have a cleaning crew that shoes up at least once a day everyday you are lucky.

It depends on how the contract reads, but kbs bids so low it's what they can get away with. They usually own the equipment.
