Roughly 6 months ago at a BB&T branch two of my coworkers who have been with the company for at least 15 years came in one day and were let go. As far as everyone in the branch were aware of, they were exemplary employees who were given no notice while 2 employees from another branch were there to fill their shoes before they had time to walk out the door.
I am unclear on the reasons why, but these women were a vital part of the everyday processes in my branch and were considered vital assets to the company and fellow employees. The loss of working side by side with them so suddenly was such a shock and caused an environment of fear and anxiety.
I tell myself, if this can happen to an employee who has been loyal to the company for that many years, it can happen to anyone, no matter how much tenure you have. No position is safe.
