Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Why Sell Mattel Now

The Industry is now in a decline and will remain that way

There are no products in the pipeline that will make a difference

The leadership team is not proven in this business or consumers products

No confidence from Wall Street

Costs will escalate, can't afford to be in ES any longer and synergies will help

Industry in decline? Talk to Hasbro, who did a great turnaround, developing old in-house properties into products that are selling. Also smart enough to get the best licences, Disney, Star Wars.

If you believe the owner of MGA on LinkedIn he says he's doing well.

Finally what about Lego? That's the most empty isle this Christmas.

To OP:

Y’all makin fun a my kin ain’t funny. At least where I’m from we where men’s clothes and speak with truth - instead of y’all’s californy bean sprout eatin, fruit skin juicing ways (hell, we feed that crap to the pigs, man).

Instead a insultin people from a stronger, more proud state, maybe you oughta look in the mirror an except responsibility for company YOU are part of and did NOTHING to fix it (just complained it was someone else’s fault).

Re: El Segundo logistics: A dozen years ago, Mattel needed to be in LA to attract the best & brightest talent in order to be a truly innovative company. You get the best from the best. Innovators and individualists. But along the way, Mattel sold out and took the PC path of least resistance. Conformity, team. Standouts became outcasts. The nails that stood up were hammered down. Fast forward to today, there is no exceptional talent to be found in the building. Not in Design, not in development, not in marketing, not in operations, and CERTAINLY not in leadership. The people who remain are frightened sheep who work hard, not smart, blindly and fearfully following orders from clueless, visionless, talentless hacks (you listening M-Go and RD?). But I digress. There is NOTHING to keep Mattel in Los Angeles. Mattel should pull a Toyota and just move the corporate HQ and everything to some cheap area. Bentonville AK comes to mind, since we already do whatever Walmart says. Save money for RD's bonus. No moving costs, just let everyone here go. As for staffing, HR will have a field day, literally. Grab some inbred local yokels, they can do the same quality of work as the current crew. There, Mattel! I just bought you another 8 years of life. You're welcome!
