Thread regarding Sally Beauty Holdings Inc. layoffs

Invest in your employees

The only good thing I can say about Sally Beauty is the company lets us have product samples and employee discounts - which doesn’t say much. We are given a huge amount of responsibilities, antiquated equipment, and very few hours to work with - all on a ridiculously low rate of pay which most can barely live off.

There are seasoned employees trained in cosmetology who are STILL making a little above minimum wage even though they have put in an enormous amount of time and dedication into this company.

Investing in your employees by providing better hours, improved resources and a higher rate of pay will give us the motivation to see this company as a career instead of just another dead end job.

Right, @kax, because that's working out really well for them? Because those on top had to start last year with restructuring and will most likely have to do the same this year due to falling profits? Not to mention the ongoing restructuring of international business, again, due to plummeting profits.

I wonder if that could have anything to do with the way they treat their employees and the fact the best employees are leaving for greener pastures? I know it's not the number one reason, but it sure as hell is among the top ones.

The OP is 100% correct. If you don't treat your employees better, they'll leave. And if all you have left are folks who barely know what to do, do you really think you'll see many return customers?

Not to mention, your "they know and don't care, that's the way it is so don't complain" attitude is the pinnacle of idiocy. I'll let you figure out why on your own.

Do you think the executives and owners don't know this? if a peon knows it, you think people with decades of business experience, degrees, and far greater business knowledge than you don't even know this most basic principal?

Could it be that they don't how you view the job? Could it be that their business model is based upon low wages rather than peons "feeling a sense of pride"?

Stop assuming you know more than people with infinitely more business experience than you, and start considering that the way it is, is the way they want it.
