Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

So many things were done wrong due to lack of experience

Here is the real story Systems Leadership didn’t have enough experience to be in the roles they were in. They spent money as if it grew in the cornfields outside of the Bloomington offices. They were grasping at straws trying to get technology implemented bringing bodies, contractors and consulting firms in from everywhere. There was at one time so many people in Corporate South that the Fire department was counting cars in the parking lot trying to determine if the building occupancy was over the limit. We tasked the school districts with this infusion of new people and even over tasked the plumbing at Corp South to a point they had to ask workers to work remotely.

They also attempted to make massive system and hardware changes all at the same time proving even more so that they did not have the knowledge or vision to lead. They increased personnel, software and hardware expenses 10 fold in a matter of months. Previous C Level Leadership let it go on having faith In the existing Systems Leadership which they should not have. When new C Level Leadership came in they wanted a change and wanted to save money on salaries etc., get a new Leader in... one of those fancy Silicon Valley types that could take us to the next level (or so they think) so they rolled the dice on several projects (using a variety of project names) over a few years.

So here we are millions of dollars spent, nothing to show for it, some of those old Leaders still around for posterity a restructure that was solely that - a restructure and many of our experienced and faithful friends on their way to a new journey in life. Bitter much? Yes, we all saw it coming but in Systems you either comply, are shushed for a bit or eventually pushed out if you don’t drink the koolaide . We all know the risks. Now we are left with the aftermath.

Bumped from @QXw3HcW-1qmk. Excellent overview of what happened.

This was going on 10 years ago when I retired...............sounds like nothing has changed and nothing has been learned.

It may be a repost. Perhaps someone expressing that they second the message. But if you don’t think about this every day that you go in and wonder what your future holds at this company something is wrong with you.

Someone on here is fond of copying posts from other threads into their own thread starters. Since this has been going on from the beginning, I would guess it's a site admin or something.
