It seems that after this round of layoffs, we are safe at least until next year.
Really sad to see GE at the point where the employees are happy about being off the hook for possible layoffs for a full month. AT least we can enjoy the holidays, I guess.
From what I've read around the board, Q1 next year will come with more "hard decisions," so we can enjoy the short reprieve while we can.
Not true about the leadership program- I had a friend who went through an LP and was laid off this round
Ooh, I know-GE is a”company of leaders”. Everyone is a leader, nobody wants to do real work.
My groups exec posted an internal video stating everyone in his group is safe.
My direct manager told me GE will only be retaining folks that went through their leadership programs.
@Qx1LmTr-anq: You are right. We still have some four weeks left for 2017. layoff can happen any week. Unless the work group/ or individual have been assured by the management, no one is safe given the GE's current financial condition.
I wouldn’t feel safe. I know for a fact that there are GE layoffs every other week or so. They are just smaller ones that the press doesn’t get notice on. I was part of a 35 person layoff that happened and no one knew about it publically. Just talked to another person two days ago who lost their job three weeks ago. No mention of that group but they are all gone. You could be next.
Hr expertise layoff small batches for many months. Many batches still coming. Beware.
