Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Layoff impact (Nov 30): How many and what locations?

It was only a matter of time before GE realized that much of this work would need to be done in a partnership type arrangement (ie, with Amazon, Apple, etc). Not criticizing any of the skilled positions...we just don’t have the leadership or infrastructure to do it all. It was all just a wet dream of Immelt’s that he’d be the next Bezos or Steve Jobs.

GE leadership claimed to be transparent, but why won't they let us know internally what sites and teams were let go, and how many. So much for transparency.

We lost 16 people in Salem today. They basically cut the hardware development team and system engineering for Mark VIe, the turbine control platform.

Michigan office number was approx 80. The site has been cutting staff for a couple years now. This latest bringing down from 1150 just 3 years ago down to about 720 now. Correct it was mainly coretech. Next year there will be more hopefully the office will not be eliminated. I made it through this one but i realize more to come. Good luck everyone.

At least 75 in Schenectady...wouldn’t say that is mild. That is 75 families going through tough times tonight and for the next several months.

Atlanta was nailed today. Sourcing, engineering, quality. More to come here as well.

Get out while you can!

Greenville and Michigan got hit hard. Schenectady seems to be mild.

GE is being so damn dirty. Laying off people in bits and pieces to avoid media attention.

AMSTC - Michigan office - 150+. Coretech got gutted. Public cloud, brilliant factory, IT, predix engineering all were affected.
