New CAM Pay Program

What’s the consensus on the new pay program? I don’t see any possibility of making more money. I can’t take another cut after losing a company car. Time to start looking hard.

The new pay plan punishes the top producers. My bonus will be half of what it was last year. The non-producers who never saw a bonus will benefit from the new compensation plan. You only have to hit 75% of GM target to make some money. Top producers were doing well above that and now the payout is much lower because the standard is lower. Way to motivate the good CAMS. What’s the point of killing yourself to hit target now?

If you’re not a top 3 producer in your region, you better be looking. The herd is about to be thinned.

Care to explain with facts?

Looks like cams are going to have to hit their numbers or go broke. Guess that’s one way to drive accountability.

I am a CAM on the new Pilot pay plan. It’s great if you were not hitting target. You will get a bonus. If you were at target or better, your bonus will be about half of what it was on the old pay plan.

After repeat denials from my CSM, I found out the new pay program is being rolled out in P2.

What a wasted position and money. When is last time your CAM sold something?

Have you seen you CAM? lol

CSM what a joke, they have not been in stores and no one knows them.

NEWS FLASH- the good CAMS and CSM’s are already gone and have taken your business. The ones that remain do not possess the ambition to leave as long as a check keeps showing up. In addition, how many of them even put in a full day of work? Failure is imminent.

So you were in a secret meeting that discussed this? You must be a big shot or full of sh*t. The company can't keep Cams as it is one of the highest turnover management positions in the company. The odds of them cutting the position is slim to none. If they lost CAMS and CSMs it would be a huge step back and the end of the company. They would just go to the competition and use their relationships they built to steal the business from AAP.

Setting a goal to sign up shops on a program is why you have the wrong types of accounts on the program. You don't win business by putting them on a program you win them by outservicing the competition daily. You win the business with service not marketing. This means answer the phone, know your parts, and get them to the shop faster than your competition. It's pretty much that simple. Everything else is to take your service to the next level.

On another note, no one can guarantee anything in a public company. Results/stock price drive everything. Strategies are only as good as their results.

I never said I had a friend in hr. I said I was in a meeting on Friday where they discussed the plan to eliminate the CAM and CSM position. There was no discussion of 20000 tnps during this meeting. Sounds like a fools goal to me.

Actually since the merger the number of TnP accounts has almost tripled! Know your facts or don't talk!

TNP accounts are rapidly departing nationwide. AAP does not have the credibility that CQ had. Wake up. AAP objectives and goals are seldom met.

There is nothing in the works about eliminating the CSM or CAM position. They have plans put in place for the CAM position until 2020 I know of for sure. 20000 TNP accounts is one of the goals. In this business the DM could never take on more of a role than they already have. Everyone on this site mysteriously has a friend in HR who just happens to know all the secrets. Don't buy into this.

Or the GM too I assume, right? If I'm not mistaken doesn't Worldpac still have outside sales reps like a CAM? Are there talks of that role being eliminated too?

As of 12/1, there are continued discussions of eliminating the CAM and CSM positions and transitioning to a Worldpac model of online and phone ordering managed by a DM only. This is similar to the WorldQuest pilot in TX. This will be a reality when the company completes the enterprise wide systems integration in 2018. Shops will have access to AAP, CQ, WP and AI inventories from a single interface. All orders will be placed online or by phone. The only face-to-face interaction will be with the DM or the delivery driver.

Do you mean as in cutting the sales team and pushing more for online? If so when when is his expected to take place?

Just caught wind of the new program from someone I know in H/R. Looks like the intent is to phase out the sales force in favor of electronic commercial sales. More bang for the buck.

I heard at the office that the cam pay change was on hold until after the holidays.

I would love to hear this as well. Sounds like someone starting trouble if they claim to know the new pay scale but can’t even explain it.

So are they lowering the base salary or changing the way they pay out on bonus?

Here is how it works, you get less money and upper management gets more. Your boss will lie to you when you ask him and upper management will still get their bonus.
