Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Incompetent advertising, no sales

Dayum. Our Kmart is down 60% in sales compared to last year. Why the drop? No print ad distributed in the area, none in the store, and none online... yep, that 45 page Thanksgiving/Black Friday ad never made it online, where corporate tells us to tell members to look ever since print ads were cut. Store management never even saw any part of the ad. No list of doorbusters other than the ones we assume are doorbusters, like the $2 flat bed pillows and $2 polyester felt throws.

Reposted from @QpKGDfE-1bln. Same thing happened in my store. Huge drop in sales as nobody knew what we were offering. It feels like we are being set up for failure...

@QtP4RsD-3vrj Wow, that is the most upfront message and at the same time, shows you how f---ed things are with this company.

I saw a new message on the RMU today when I scanned a product. Something along the lines of "Vender no longer trading with SHC. No replacements are planned" I have seen vender issues messages before but never this message!

In response to -IVN, I would also say that the overstock of merchandise is due to all of the store closings this year. The merchandise is ordered months in advance, and from what I have heard, the people who decide which stores are to close don't let other departments (including the buyers and inventory analysts) know until a few weeks before the announcements are made.

Case in point, our store has received pallets of merchandise for a college not in our state.... The merchandise is actually the rival of the school in our city... The merchandise doesn't sell, and we only have a couple racks of our city's college. Our SM tried to 707 the merchandise to a store closer to the college, but the DM said something along the lines of "well, it was slotted for XXXX but they closed before the merchandise got to the warehouse." we're sitting on this junk.

We have 400+ of the cheap throws still sitting in our store. If we sold FIVE on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, that was a lot. It was a doorbuster item. There was no doorbuster sign package, no ad in the store, no ad distributed, no ad online and there was no signage printed out by the system. So how on earth do CUSTOMERS know it's a sale item on Black Friday??? Who dropped the ball???

There were full pallets of ladies sweats delivered Thanksgiving week. We assumed it was part of the big event, but the RMU shows regular pricing going through January. Usually there are ladies sweats this time of year as a $5 or $6 promo item. No one's buying these at full price. They aren't even part of BOGO this week. Again, no one's buying these because of price. Who dropped the ball???

Kmart is totally being set up for failure. They probably intentionally cut the ad budgets because they give no f---s about Kmart. As I stated, they will sacrifice Kmart to keep Sears alive. Kmart was and never will be a part of this whole "transformation" talk.
