Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Mission ????

What is the mission of GE? Flannery (nor anyone of his predecessors) has been able to clearly articulate the company mission. Being a digital industrial company is simplify classifying it as such. What I want to hear is what is it that drives GE and allows for it to be in industries as diverse and disparate as Health, Power Generation and Aviation. Otherwise it is simply (trying to) follow the money. The net income, stock price increase, etc are outputs and not what defines the company mission

Constancy of purpose for improving products and services.

That is point #1 of Deming's 14 Points. We fail with flying colors.

GE is nothing without Capital. That was the golden goose. Stupid to sell it

Mission to make money through acquisitions and divestiture. Strategy provide a supply chain management to build and sell hardware and then services to maximise cash flow so predix is a service, field engineers are a service. Share innovation through the GE store.

Model in my mind is good as good as our competitors. Corporate and the cost of self assessment, IBS which is a necessity to cross bill between entities need reform. JF has started the ball rolling.

Technology and Innovation. At least that what drove GE in its most successful years, including those when Capital was the darling.
