Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

West Coast

Any updates on West Coast? Been with BBB 14 years now and getting scared to see what’s next. The district people right now some but NOT all but probably most are so rude they come into the stores like they own the place and basically talk down to you and make you wonder how they are in the position they are in.

They should be what they are called SUPPORT. But again let me be clear some and probably most but not all. There are some really great district people. Same for store managers some great ones and some that should never be a store manager but they are.

The new West Coast VP is very positive wants to build a team talks about the team and then there are store managers that can’t stop using the words like “ I and ME “ takes one bad manager to make people want to leave but a great manager will want people to follow and do good. Stock is at 19.00 that’s just crazy from where it was at just a year ago.

"Economy slowing down, government mandated benifits (healthcare, sick day, MINIMUM wage) going up is tearing at the fabric of business models."

I agree with the economy slowing down, the stock market bubble is on borrowed time, just look at the charts.

The remaining comment, give me a break, you are quite naive about business models.

Sorry your in this position of uncertainty!

I understand (I was a 8/3 West Coast layoff).

I hope no one else gets laid off, is humbling and financially devastating

I feel like some of the most brilliant managers I ever worked with were at BB&B.

Any district managers I worked for (almost) I would work for again, Maggie,Bill,Mike,Hadil....

The regional guy Steve B....no.

The district staff, some yes, some no.

BUT I do think there will be some more bleeding before it’s over. BB&B, don’t think it’s going away entirely , but will have to thin out, too much fat!!

Don’t believe as much the “Amazon’s killing us” line anymore.

Economy slowing down, government mandated benifits (healthcare, sick day, MINIMUM wage) going up is tearing at the fabric of business models.w

And not to mention corporate GREED.

I think there may be some closing’s, maybe some more internal downsizing, maybe a P.E. Buyout, and a long road back.

But the store I loved and helped in my small way build will survive!

Keep the faith, hang in there, be mindful of each other!!
