Did the GM of Fisher-Price really equate the potential Hasbro buyout with a nuclear holocaust in front of the entire company? Not looking good for you EAers I guess.

In the event of a buyout, I'd be a lot more worried if I worked in ES. Synergies hit hardest in corporate functions, not product development and brand functions like what's at FP. That and most competent outsiders that look at the sad state of the parent company would realize where the true problem lies. Free the brands from this incompetence and they are instantly more valuable
Well, whether the GM said that or not, it's true. All of the EA jobs (and more!) would have been killed off.
Well this indicates leadership clearly viewed the offer from Hasbro as a non-starter. You can't expect negotiations to go very far when starting from a position that HAS is the enemy and a buyout would be tantamount to nuclear annihilation.
and the mattel stock once again begins it’s decent to worthlessness. it was fun while it lasted kiddies. getting your hopes dashed by mattel is par for the course!
I don't think she was suggesting that the impact of a takeover would have similar levels of destruction and "casualties" as North Korea nuking the US, it was more a way of suggesting that potential for terrible, life altering things to occur is constant. For example we don't stay home from work everyday just because as a fact we know every morning some of those people will die in some sort of tragic event before reaching the office.
It certainly was an interesting choice of analogy for sure.
And if it was said in terms of why worry, you can’t do anything about it, that’s not true. You can. You can look for another job rather than passively wait to see if you are among the half or more who get laid off and then fight them all looking for a new job.
So when so many talented people have been laid off or asked to retire in past several years it was “just business.” But when senior team might be affected it is a nuclear holocaust? Give me a break.
I think the analogy was that like NK, you're future is in the hands of unfit leaders so why worry
Wait, what?
