Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Nepotism is astounding

Whoever described the current situation as "looting" wasn't exaggerating. Walmart is infested with NEPOTISM and FAVORITISM at all levels. A lot of us on these forums, what we have in common is being overworked while being held to impossible standards because we didn't have special privileges. We are the work mules/wage slaves that do three heads of work including the work of family member/manager's pet PARASITES while being told we're failing, late, and need to be more "accountable" the whole time we're suffering and severely underpaid. We keep the company running in its current state and the only way we can change our situation is to protest by leaving. I encourage all the work mules to jump ship, you owe these scumbucket parasites and carpetbaggers nothing and I guarantee if you actually start looking you will find a job that values you, treats you like an equal human being, only gives you one head of work or less and pays you what you're worth!

This was posted by @QazIBhl-1idl in an older thread, but it's spot on I had to bump it into a thread. I hope the OP does not mind. Looting is right...

I see a lot more FAVORITISM than NEPOTISM. Then they wonder why the AES Scores are low. Get a clue

@Qh1iaFZ-aib, One needn't wait long at HO to see leaders who are in over their head fall, especially when the work mules have all gone.

From the Art of War: “If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by.”

Yes, @aib. What finally broke me, aside from doing 2-3+ people's work (with it only increasing year to year with a 2-3% raise) was the constant need for status reports and having to spend 4+hrs EVERY DAY on status update calls and meetings for projects. I literally spent all of my time creating reports and attending meetings and conference calls to talk about project status and had almost no time left, except for nights and weekends, to actually create the work product I was being paid to produce. My senior director and VP, who were buddies, did nothing except for ask for updates and sit in meetings. I left for greener pastures, there was no one else there to pick up the slack after I left, and the senior director was gone within 3 months too because he didn't know how to do the actual work in my absence. I stayed long enough to pay off my debt and save a little and then said "peace out-have fun!"

@ezq guilt tripping doesn’t work on those who simply DGAF. 3 heads of work yes or more for those doing actual work depending on how many variations of status collector/PowerPoint ranger/asshat tool “ideas guy” all under the first level manager lol. Wal Mart part of the problem is they hire 3 trackers “associate Vice President process accelerator change management engineer” for every work mule. These people have nothing to do but ask questions collect multiple rounds of status on same issue and even harass and bully work mules no wonder there’s no freaking work getting done.

I'm glad I'm no the only person that thought we were doing 3 heads of work. I was hired in 2007 - and left this year - and we were doing about 1.5 persons' worth of work. Every few years more was added were you were doing 2 heads, then 2.5 then ultimately 3. All this under a 2% pay raise policy where it did not matter your contributions to the team. Everyone got the same.

I always listened up to the ISD YB meeting for someone in leadership to invariably say 'This year we'll do more with less.' That seemed to start when Kat was in charge. When I heard that I knew the promotion, pay raise and hiring policies would be changing for the worse.

Do they still make you feel guilty if you even take half your PTO days?
