The idea of working in a bookstore has been a childhood dream for me. Barnes & Noble has taken that dream and smash it into pieces.
Not even sure where to start with all the things wrong here. The pay is low with no bonuses unless you are a manger. There is no opportunity for career growth so you can't expect to receive any raises that are worth mentioning. Despite all of this, we are overworked and new tasks keep getting dropped on us.
The company itself is completely directionless. Any type of criticism will be taken very poorly and pretty much ignored. Management is a bunch of backstabbers who will make sure to take credit for everything good you do. Good luck if you ever screw up, even on a smallest scale.
Not even books can keep me working in this mess for much longer.
