Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Read your package documents carefully

There are a lot of rules for signing and returning your agreement, things you might not think of on your own. Be sure you're following the instructions exactly.

Why not pick up the phone to HR. You can't rely on any answer on this site.

I signed my paperwork on Mon 11/20 and sent it overnight in traceable mail. I have confirmation it was received on Tues 11/21 but as of today, Fri 12/1, I have not yet received my severance package. However, I know someone that signed and mailed on Fri 11/10 and received their package on Friday 11/24.

I am hoping last week's Thanksgiving holiday on Thurs 11/23 is the reason for delay - versus my paperwork being rejected.

I sent my sep agreement in but did not get any confirmation whether it was accepted or rejected. Do they normally send you an email that says it was accepted? How long after it was received did it take to receive the funds?

Where is this coming from? I haven't heard of any recent lay-offs.

But to the OP's statement, yes, read it carefully and follow the instructions to the letter. For US employees, you must mail the package back via trackable mail. I literally mailed a package from my bldg to the bldg across the street! If you're smart, you will use Cisco's internal shipping tool after 5PM on your next-to-last day & print the shipping label so the Fed-Ex costs are billed to Cisco. Then drop off the package at the shipping desk on your last day just before turning in your laptop and badge. Get a tracking receipt. Make sure it's the Fed-Ex tracking # and not Cisco's internal tracking as you won't have access to the shipping tool to confirm delivery.

Make sure you date it for the day you mail it and not before or after. There's something about Cisco having to receive it within 24-hrs of signing. I used next-day delivery and screw Cisco for the mailing costs.
