Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

GE to shed it's majority shares of Baker Hughes

The Boston-based company also plans to eventually shed its majority stake in Baker Hughes, which became a separate public company in July after merging with GE’s oil and gas operations, this person said.

GE owns 63% of Baker Hughes, which had a market value of $40 billion based on Friday’s close. While it intends to exercise its option to exit Baker Hughes, the process hasn’t started and would be subject to some discussion between the companies’ boards. Under the current arrangement, GE is restricted from selling its stake for several years.

BHGE is a profitable company. If someone does indeed buy them at rock bottom price, there would be no need to slash costs. I will agree that a new management team might have different ideas about how to run a business but nobody would ever buy a business and then intentionally try to ruin it. It is good for BHGE that GE decided to create the JV and let it run as a separate entity. The handwriting was on the wall that GE was creating an exit strategy for oil & gas but that might turn out to be a good thing for BH(x)GE.

Who buys BH next will pay a rock bottom price then cut costs by slashing salaries, benefits, pension and headcount even more. End of the road for BH.

Baker is a dog, its the people that make the company and frankly Baker people s---. Convoluted over complex supply chain, overbearing processes, incompetent management, useless lazy employees. What's needed is major layoffs before selling baker to the Chineese.
