For a company that constantly promotes that customers always come first, Big Lots doesn’t provide the coverage needed to run a shift successfully and ensure that customers are satisfied.
We aren’t given proper training other than online instructional tutorials before we are thrown on the floor and expected to multitask. This creates major issues when we are understaffed. Cross training should mean having the experience to do a variety of positions but NOT all at once!
In addition, the workload is unrealistic compared to the paltry hours that we are given to accomplish our tasks.
Customer service isn’t up to par due to lack of employees scheduled and training. Their mantra should instead say “cutting corners first”!
