Fewer presents

Anybody else cut back on presents significantly due to the job insecurity? My tree looks sad with what's under it for this year compared to the last, but I simply can't afford to splurge like I used to as I'm not sure if I'll have a job once this month is over.

Isn't it sad how many of these small pleasures GE took away from us, even while we are still working here?

Yes, our tree has less presents too because of the uncertainty. Remember the purpose of Christmas and cherish your time with family and friends. It may be hard b--check out from the GE world at least for today.

Most of my colleagues who are affected have pulled back on spending because of the uncertain future, but the ones that have found jobs have done better than with GE.

GE does have better benefits in most cases, but perhaps that's why their costs are so high.

Some of us 50+ years old are at higher risk. I was hoping to ride out my retirement compensation at GE.

Even though I am still employed at GE for now, I know that can change early next year as GE's circumstances continue to deteriorate. I have cut back significantly, including cancelling DirecTV. My kids are getting less for Christmas, and I asked the wife not to spend any money on me this year.

I couldn’t agree more. Gifts that we wanted to get our kids are now just a pipe dream till the i get a job. GE has been a good company to me. I’m more bitter on the process of how I was voted off the island. Making us reapply for our jobs in Greenville. Knowing who was getting saved and who was getting the ax
