In one years time we’ve lost our pharmacy,stopped selling propane and stopped making keys. Vendors have pulled all magazines. No coke or Pepsi products being delivered, hardly anything on the selves in sporting goods.Two different groups of people have been in the store looking to lease half the building.So much more, it makes your head spin. What has been going on in your store this past year?

In our state, there remain only three stores left, all of whom are very spread out from one another geographically. The remaining store in an out suburb of the largest city seems to be shrinking shelf space but still cannot keep the stock appealing enough that it's holding any interest even mores now since the shiny new War*Mart opened down the street less than a mile away.
KMarts idea of being forthright with their customers takes the path of increasing the MSRP of say, $29.99 to $34.99. Then when the savvy remaining shoppers that still even remain see it put on "clearance", it is then priced at $34.98. of cours, it still won't sell and they will begin saying, 10% off clearance!! Today it was 20%!!! Wow, now one could pay $27.00 for an item with an MSRP of, repeating, $29.99.
The store's product mix holds nothing anymore of any interest where a person wants to gamble 30 -u 45 minutes of their life away because of only one poor cashier working with antiquated 20 year old equipment.
It's sad a once great American retailer is dying because of the mismanagement of it's billionaire Hedgefund CEO.

Weren't the Manhattan stores recently given the remodel with new department signs, service desk, etc.?? Of course, I'm sure they didn't bother to fix the elevators or get the floors scrubbed.

Welcome to the club! At least you have associates go schedule to the bone. That's how our schedule looks year round. We absolutely never have two service desk at the same time and we are lucky to have two cashiers at any given time. We literally run on a skeleton crew daily.
Gotta love this company's non-existent ability to determine priorities. Busiest return period of the year...schedule one service associate. Hope they don't call out. ;)
Have DM and Corp visit on Wednesday. Our store looks like a bomb hit. We will be in the store 4 a.m. Dec. 26 to put things back together. Everyone's hours were cut to the bone effective Dec. 26... we have one customer service person and two cashiers scheduled on all shifts rest of the week.
Maybe your store is low volume and therefor doesn't get replenished as often as the other stores in your district? Maybe no one is zeroing out and reordering product that isn't on the shelves?

Pharmacy operations are closed when the pharmacy becomes unprofitable and long term forecasts show continued unprofitability.
Associate operated key cutters have been replaced with vending machines that make keys in over 300 locations. The key cutting machines broke down too often and became extremely unprofitable. This aspect of Kmart is more of a convenience type offering for our members than a profit center.
In-line and front end magazines are pulled by the distributor when there are so few sales to justify the cost of bringing them into the store. Not every Kmart sells magazines. And, at every location that does, the company no longer receives slotting fees for front end magazine displays at checkouts.
Propane is the same way. We do have a new Propane vendor for a lot of the stores. In late fall and winter, we don't sell propane. If your store has a year round garden shop, then you have propane year round.
Coke and Pepsi do not service Kmart on a daily or weekly basis like they do with Walmart.
Regarding sporting goods, some counters thin out with product when layouts aren't being done and for other reasons. We don't order fishing equipment and supplies in the middle of winter.
