Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Only the facts

Lots of rumors and opinions which are all important to the conversation. But, I'm curious to know from those people currently impacted: what areas are seeing layoffs of internal employees? What does the severance package and timeline look like for them? This would be most helpful for those anticipating possible impacts themselves in the near future - yes, me, ISD. Thanks for any insight.

I’m from a media outlet based in Bloomington-Normal. We’re working on a story about what’s really going on with these buyouts/layoffs at SF. Need your help. Send me a text at 779.903.3590 or on the Signal app (BNreports/779.903.3590). You can stay anonymous.

27% of directors and 22% of managers took the buyout offered a few months ago so I expect there will be additional managers being released or looking to find new jobs.

Management had from November 17th to November 27th end of day to decide to take the severance at full pay and leave at the end of March 31st 2018. Or could wait it out and see where everything settles to see if new Directors pick them up. If doesn't work would get half severance on what was originally offered and still be let go at the end of March.

Management and analysts in Security and two other areas in Systems we're not impacted from the guarded wackenhut H1 cafeteria meetings in October on the upcoming cuts of management and analysts.

This past Friday 50+ externals were released in the Systems area on 12/15. Seeing this continuing through 2018 to reduce staff augmentation dependency. Is the end of the year when most contracts are renewed or in this case weren't renewed.

This is the 2nd time I'm hearing this. ISD and Systems professionals that were impacted in first round were pulled into meetings in Oct, given a little under 3 months to decide to take severance or take their chances on finding another job. QTD March 31st. So that's a little under 6 months end to end. In a previous post someone mentioned others are being given no more than three months from announcement to QTD. Are these professionals or para-professionals? Can anyone speak to this?

I'm a remote worker. We were cut in the last round. My only option was involuntary severance, at the rate of:

1) 1 week's pay for every year served for the first ten years

2) 2 week's pay for every year served thereafter.

To collect the severance, I must stay until the last day, which for me is March 31st.

I was allowed to apply for other jobs internally if I was willing to move, but the JOP situation was cleared up by the execs ahead of time so the only openings were things that would have prevented MOST remote workers from even applying. However, I probably could have gotten a gig if I had been willing to relocate. In the end, I was not.

I would expect most offers for Systems/ISD on-site to be more generous than what I received.
