Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

A lesson in hypocrisy

It’s okay to be on the buying end of relationships (especially if it is OU athletics and you can brag about having the phone number of the head coach), but it is NOT okay to be bought in any way.

Those amazing managers you speak of are to busy sitting courtside at Thunder games to give a damn what any individual contributor thinks.

You shouldn't dismiss the value in putting people in a room and providing them the freedom to share their thoughts. The real problem lies with those who talked up our core values, promoted the mood elevator, and championed the accountability ladder only to return to work the following day and continue doing what they had always done -- mock their subordinates in hushed tones thinking nobody was listening. It's the people in this company who honestly believe, deep down, that the culture training was for everyone except themselves. They're the same people who sit next to you in church on Sunday and flip you off in traffic on Monday. I have no idea what caused them to be this way, but I am so god damn sick and tired of hearing managers talk sh-- about their employees because they think their door is soundproof. They are a cancer on what could be an otherwise top quality place to work.

Oh the negativity, we should be in a circle speaking positively to one another. Have you already forgotten your culture training? We are one big joke!

That is the way it works at CHK. It is a popularity contest for the VPs. If you are invited into the circle, all is good. You do not need to know anything nor have the right experience. You just have to be liked. I do not know why CHK even wastes their money on leadership training. It dos not work if they teach one thing and practice another. It is a dumpster fire.
