GE Power stated they will cut 12,000 employees where many will occur in high cost Europe except for France where they can't by agreement and actually have to hire employees.

There will be cuts across the board, but management is being tight lipped but will have to inform in Q1 when layoffs start

Salaried employees say temp layoffs are only until they can get union approval for full layoffs, which takes 90 days... thus the 90 day lack of work. From sr leadership - dont expect anything to pick up in 18 or 19. Schenectadys role still unknown, but they are ramping up sites where they cant dump employees or costs are lower.

Well many here don’t give a rats a$$ anymore about this JOB. The way they treated battery plant guys, now in 273 and kept us employed this far. I hope they offer a buyout to any members that want to leave $60k I would leave walk away with $30k or so. I am sure many would leave that way GE won’t have to pay a dime to their former employees
