Meeting Mongers - Dose of Reality

The most successful GE employees have been blessed with the gift of gab. They make a career out of attending meetings. They attend meetings from the time they get to work until the time they go home. Their only contribution is warming a conference room chair and yapping their jaws. They actually have a sense of accomplishment after attending meetings. If you start to feel panic and anxiety because your meeting calendar isn’t full maybe you should reevaluate your contribution. IMO, > 85% of GE meetings are a complete waste of everybody’s time. Shut your face and do something.

Senior leaders especially spend all day at meetings getting filtered reality from underlings--hence their disconnection from reality. It's impossible to get their attention when you need them for an actual decision. People have tried to s--- me into more meetings so I have to block free time off in the calendar for actual work. Most of the layoffs are of people who work, not talk all day in inner-circle meetings. Pretty soon all that will be left are rapid and vapid talkers. But they'll probably never know that the reason the company is failing is because they aren't doing any work.
