I heard some stores already cut their Assistants. Anyone know if this is true? Are Assistants all being cut in Sears and Kmart?

@sep I think its always about that its all based on sales if your store can handle the expenses vs the profits. In my store their has been lots of cuts, but its been cuts that just have hurt the company overall. I have seen more leads than managers go. I remember when we use to have once upton a time 5 leads once upon a time. One quit and 2 got fired leaving with 2 leads now and 3 ASM and 1 SM. Instead of cutting an ASM they ended up cutting 2 lead positions which really did not help, but hurt the company. I think the reason they didn't cut a manager was because the SM basically throws the majority of the work load to her. Not this year if we end up going for another round one ASM is getting cut (hell maybe even 2 that be the biggest shocker their), but I know for a fact with the way I have seen sales ASM is getting cut and who knows what else.
In Sears stores ASM staffing is strictly determined by the store's sales. We had our store's ASM Operations position eliminated because our store dropped below a certain dollar amount. It was automatic with no recourse. We now have an SM and one ASM and three leads. The Leads open and close the store and do all other manager duties and responsibilities except the cash cage.
Must be a Sears thing. In our Kmart, if the ASM isn't there on a truck day, the probability of the truck getting started/finished drops by 50%. The SM is tied up with all the ridiculous metrics busywork from the DM so it falls to the ASM to do pretty much everything else. Of course even they still get tied up from real work if they get stuck doing the pointless shopping trips.

They walk around kissing the SM’s behind all day, totally worthless. Shoulda fired them years ago...
I would like to see that in our store because the asm’s are worthless anyways....
That would be semi-disastrous, seeing as my store doesn't even have a store manager right now. Run the whole store with key-carrying leads...I'm sure that would go super well.
