Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

We need to get rid of old GM mentality

We've made progress in the past few years, but there are still holdovers who subscribe to old GM mentality that put us in the perilous position we are in right now. These pockets of holdovers are still resistant to change which we sorely need. If we can get away from that kind of thinking, I believe General Motors would be able to get back to the top we deserve. But that means not laying off experienced and knowledgeable people but using their strengths. It also means recruiting young talent and making sure we offer them enough to want them to stay. If short-term profits bumps caused by layoffs become a thing of the past, we might be able to to just that.

Sounds like the GM swamp. Like a lot of other companies in which ageism defines whether you meet the criteria for the next layoff. Forget having the experience. It doesn't matter when it comes time for cost cutting. Sad.
