Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Greenville Layoffs

Dont rejoice yet guys. Just earlier this year in March when the company laid off over 300 salary workers the plant manager assured there wouldn't be anymore cuts yet, here we are again with salaried cuts. The Power industry is not solid enough to be confident so the reality for everyone is there is NO job security for ANYONE. Including the plant manager, salaried AND hourly employees. Best bet is to start applying to other industries. You'll eventually be glad you did.

The Greenville Plant Manager meant no cuts to himself or his staff. Everybody else is at risk.

Why would you stay within GE if management is a joke there.

If you want to stay within GE, Aviation is healthy, well run and profitable. They are however notoriously cheap when it comes to salary and relocation.

The cuts in March were primarily non-manufacturing jobs (various engineering teams). This uncertainty will continue through 2018 as the Gas Turbine business continues its decline. I agree, if you are a younger person with a long career ahead, get out while the economy is booming and get a real job. GE’s pay/benefit structure has become a joke...you will find much better elsewhere.
