This was a crazy week. But I think we have learned a few things:
-
No one is safe
-
You can do great work but it will not guarantee your job is safe.
-
If management doesn't like you or hear negative perception you will be on the chopping block.
-
It's always good to stick up for yourself, but at Colgate it can be your doom. Still stick up for yourself.
-
Race plays a big role. I hate to say this but it's true. Only going to get worse.
-
Work but not too hard. This go around we have seen a great deal of people who worked their a-- off and got cut while those who just work are ok.
-
If they can get rid of good workers, please wake up and start looking for a job. Remember layoff 2018 and 2019.
-
No loyalty. Be loyal to yourself
-
Trust no one but yourself. Management will always try to get into your personal business. Don't let that happen.
-
If you see a number of people being move to Oral Care or other groups out of personal care early in the year 2018 and 2019...chances are layoffs are coming and management wants to keep certain people and get rid of others. This includes people on short term assignments.
-
Never let people know what you have. If they see a nice car, and house, chances are you don't need the money and they can let you go.
-
Always know your worth. This layoff is a wake up call. Know your worth and start looking outside of Colgate. You don't have to leave but at least you know what type of a job yoy can get.
-
Always have a lawyer in hand in case you get let go. You can maneuver and know your rights.
-
Don't be afraid. Use every benefit Colgate has to offer so you can be successful when the tI'm comes to leave.
-
Always help someone in need. One good deed can be returned in a job opportunity outside of Colgate in the future.
-
Always life after Colgate.
-
Watch your stock. Things are changing fast.
-
Get educated. Always read the Web news about Colgate from key fiancial holders.
-
Pray and have Faith. GOD makes no mistake.
20.Be yourself and don't change for this crazy culture at Colgate. It's not worth it.
