Thread regarding Adtalem layoffs

Chamberlain has to make up for DeVry's losses

Chamberlain continues to be profitable. But DeVry continues to lose millions. This means Chamberlain has to make up the difference. How long will DeVry continue to drain Chamberlain?

Speaking of HQ, what did Bartholomew mean when he said "transitioning the university" when talking about the GSO reorganization? Did anyone else catch that?

Also, if our numbers are looking so good for January, why didn't he share them? Town halls used to flood us with more numbers than we cared to see, but this time there was nothing.

Yes, it's true. Just announced at 2:31 PM on Wednesday.

It looks like DVU is being isolated for easy removal from Adtalem. Better late than never.

Is it true that DeVry HQ is leaving the Adtalem HQ?

They definitely seem to be setting up DVU for a sell-off (or shutdown). They certainly don't have a plan to recapture any market share, and they are stuck reducing costs as much as possible to make it attractive to some buyer. No indication that they see it as an ongoing business unit for the long term.

Adtalem is also going to have to address their problems with veterans. DeVry now has the highest percentage of GI Bill complaints. For student vets or former student vets at DeVry, Carrington, or Chamberlain who do have complaints, please use the GI Bill complaint form and contact Veterans Education Success.

Why hasn't Adtalem closed DeVry? Is it because they think they can sell it off? What reason could they possibly have for dragging it out this long?

It was frustrating at the earnings call when someone asked about strategic options for DVU and Wardell basically just said they're going to keep doing what has not worked so far.

There's nothing moronical about Camden's observation. DeVry is indeed losing millions, and worse, enrollment is trending downward, quarter after quarter. Obviously, those millions have to be offset by gains of millions, somewhere, or DeVry would be forced to close. Yes, that's the real world of business, and the market.

In the meantime, millions do shuffle from Chamberlain's side to DeVry's.

Camden doesn’t understand business. Plain and simple. In Camden’s perfect world every segment of a business should be robust and increasing. Theoretically Camden is right, but that’s not the real world or the marketplace. Show me a business that has every segment always increasing n being robust. Markets tap out, they aren’t always endless you moron.
