Yes, that is completely true. Q will look beyond smartphones. So what do you think will happen to engineers whose jobs are tied to our phone business?

You seem to have forgotten that the big question on this board is not „Will Qualcomm survive?“ but „Will our jobs survive?“ These are two quite distinct questions.

I think the fear here is overblown. If, and this is a big if, the NXP deal closes, Qcom should be able to leave Apple behind. Qcom is already looking beyond smartphones.

Apple should be careful as well. Apple believes what we make is a commodity, and they can use whatever part they want. Fine. People are also realizing smartphones are a commodity as well and using inferior parts will emphasize this.
