Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Work hours

We are having a crisis re: xmas help and regular lrq's at our store...rumor is management, (SM claims DM wants this) wants all FT commissioned in appliances to be scheduled for 6o hrs a week claiming they can because of commission status ...all because they can't/won't pay enough to get help....some sales people are thinking of leaving (as they should) if this happens, the metrics will truly go in the toilet. Anyone else hear of this, or know what channels to address this? Can they even do this?

This is a true statement in our sears store they are being scheduled 55 hours... what we ASM's are being told this is so no member walks , so everyone that walks in will be greeted at the door, (like going into ARTVAN and no one likes going in there) getting attacked at the door is not good customer relations. Me personally I would rather look around for a bit not get tackled at the door. and the other thing that is trying to be fix is the UP system most sales people have in place to create a stable work place , its being told this can not happen, yes we managers now this isn't supposed to be done this way but the sales people do this to get along. But if we announce that its open floor then the wolves will be out and the cut throat will begin and the unrest will also start.

They want the appliance people to work as cashiers, even though they are commission only. Before I quit working at Sears (in appliances) the store would always be short handed around the holidays and customers would roll their carts up to an appliance register and never get rung up. Appliance people can be very creative and evasive when they have to be. So glad to be out of there.

In my store people that work in appliances are still get the most in hours. I believe we have in total 5 full timers and 3 part timers (they just hired recently a part timer making them 3). I would be in shock if they did that in my store I hate when i hear them complain and at times yes their busy, but at times they are just sitting around doing nothing talking playing on their phones. They get mad if you go and make a payment or pay for something when they are doing nothing.

This is going to be a slap on their faces when they have to work 6 hours a day and having to take a lunch for a crap shift I just doubt any of them will quit since they been their forever.
