Thread regarding Toys "R" Us layoffs

It wasn't Amazon, it was bad management that ruined us

For those who keep blaming Amazon for our bankruptcy, I wanted to just leave this here:

only 16 percent of sales in the toys and hobby sector are made online. That means a debt load of more than $5 billion was mainly what did in Toys ‘R’ Us and not competition from e-commerce giant Amazon

Put blame where it belongs.

Wow, sorry to hear about your experiences at the retail level.

It sounds awful. The same holds doubly true for corporate. The people in HR just want their paychecks so they ignore any concerns you may have before jumping ship. Even the "ladies", they have no respect towards feminism whatsoever. It is absolutely sickening what goes on in there.

It's true what the original poster is saying, it's terrible management that ruined this company. It's hard to hear about your experiences, it it's worse at the corporate level.

My former employer had me consult there for two years, and the first six months were great before realizing what really goes on there.

This place is run by an old boys club that has no qualifications, and employs all of their golf buddies, and these desperate foreigners who will do anything that they say.

If you're a young woman getting started in your career avoid this place like the plague if you have any respect for yourself or your body.

I could not believe the gender inequality that goes on in there. They aren't even subtle about it.

I am so so so looking forward to these people losing their jobs.

I left 2 years ago and somedays there was no one on the sales floor. A boh person which was me, then a service desk lady, registry, and the mgr. This was bru but it was terrible for us as well as the customer. The corp idiots making these decisions didnt care and we knew it.

management yes they will blatantly lie because they want to save themselves and their family from becoming a customer they will take advantage of you then they will praise you they will befriend you they will consume you and then they won't face you management yes because they don't staff the floors they make excuses why they can't afford it and make the people who are there do triple work for the same pay running multiple departments and making excuses to guests about why there was no staff and managers constantly accommodating customers because of the situation which was costing ten to 30 per cent off individual sales just to make sure a guest didn't give a bad survey and if they did the employees got the brunt of the lack of coverage due to the managers negligence on their part of responsibilities to schedule workers without staff dont blame the people working and doing everyone's else's job and not their own when the problem isn't just Amazon it's about Not staffing the floor
