It's the 4th quarter people! There will be very little boat rocking in this quarter. This is retail and the most important quarter of the year! Ya think Bass Pro is going to hack every one now? CAB's systems are different than Pro's. Why ditch those that know how to keep everything running in your most profitable quarter? Bass Pro has a plan. When they share it is another thing. If they don't have a plan, then--ouch! Cabela's is alive and functioning until BP dissolves the corporation--if ever. JM has a great opportunity to take the best people from both sides to meld into a new corporate group. 1st quarter next year is the troublesome quarter for corporate at least, but even then it depends upon how JM wants to treat CAB. Fold into BP or leave as a stand alone entity treated as a subsidiary of BP. There are a lot of different companies under the Cabela's umbrella. How did they function? In the end, next year or in two years, there will be one corporate group and that will be in Springfield.

The comment this is a simple merger and will only take a few months to complete is right on the stupidity level that bass pro will fire every employee nationwide or bass pro will fire every employee in Sidney and bring in 40 employees to run the Sidney operation or Jim and d--k decided to sell Cabelas in the poster present two years before d--k died. Can anyone else think of any dumber posts then these.

Let's look at the issue here. We have a new company which will have have close to 50000 employees, 200 stores, 6 distribution centers 4 corporate centers we have a unnamed poster who does not state their background or relationships with Cabelas over the years, I am basing my comments on a meeting with four directors level employees at Cabelas, the poster stated this merger could be completed in two months and this merger is no big deal. The director s stated this merger is a differcult one with the number of employees stores stores distribution center s and different corporate head quarters, in the meeting the directors stated you are not looking at a year before the merger is done it will be more like two years,

You won’t compete with Scheels. They are private, very calculating, debt free and very motivated sales team

Scheels opened amazing store in CO this weekend. BPS better get their head out of their arse to compete with them.

Supply chain and store operation takes a little longer to intergrate responsibility but it can be none in a few months not a year. Are you sure you didn't post the 40 employees From bass pro statement also. It is hard to believe there are two different people out of reality who posted these statements .

I mean what 200 stores. 40 thousand employees they gave5 billion dollars for another business . three different computer systems 6 distribution centers.. you state A merger could easily be completed in two months. Second thought get some mental health your hate for Cabelas and Sidney you have lost all concept of reality,

I am going off new reports that stated" expect changes within 90 days".- which would be the January 2018. All documents state Corp is in MO and I am not the original poster that predicted 40 employees.

I am sure your the same poster who posted bass pro would fire every employee of Cabelas when they took over. I am sure your the same poster you posted bass pro would fire every employee in Sidney at Cabelas and bring in 40 people from Missouri to run the Sidney operation. Now we hear from you I am sure pretending to be different posters can we please ignore previous posts and move one. However you still post the same gloomy predictions of the future for employees of now bass pro in Sidney. How about you post your background in regard to your work experience and background experience. I am almost sure you are a laid off employee of Cabelas, what did you think of the news the CEO and president had been fired from Cabelas's

January 1st is the date I picked. Why would BP let the bleeding continue for years - it is going to happen sooner than everyone thinks

Its funny reading posts on here talking about it taking a year or years to integrate the two companies. This is just more day dreaming, wishful thinking, koolaide drinking. This isnt Dow and Dupont merging, its one retailer buying another. Obviously you habe no experience in retail mergers, they don't take that long. If Bass Pro has any idea what they are doing this won't be that big of a project at all. They could "digest" Cabelas in as little as a month if they wanted to. In as little as 5 or 6 steps really they would no longer need Cabela's buying or planning and they can get rid of marketing, finance, and human resources much quicker than that. Supply chain and store operations would take a little longer to integrate responsibly but it could be done in a few months not a year. Honestly, as long as they had to prepare a transition plan, they should be prepared to consolidate operations already. They may choose to wait until January since a lot of expenses are already baked out that far plus doing so delays some major headaches (lots of extra work consolidationg) they don't want this time of year on their existing employees. While Bass Pro might be privately held, they have to answer to investment banks as they are now up to their chest in debt. Not consolidating quickly = death for Bass Pro.

That's why massive layoffs are not imminent. They need Cabela's employees knowledge to help them migrate the systems over to BP. Once they are done with that phase, those people will get cut.

It's kinda like helping your wife's new boyfriend move into your house. Once your done helping, she kicks your a-- out the door.

I disagree. They know Bass Pro very well. They don't really care how Cabelas is run. They will systematically eliminate Cabela's systems and migrate them over to their system. They will make a list of everything that needs to be switched over and then put them in order of priority. I have been through it more than once. It will take over a year before Cabela's will be fully digested by Bass Pro. I bet they hire an experienced consultant to assist with the process.

Truly, where would you start? A very big project to restructure and mesh two big companies together as one. Where would you start if you were in charge? So many employees, so many different programs and "ways to do things". This is a very big undertaking.
