Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

This round of Sabre layoffs will be much bigger than last

The list has been compiled and being distributed to upper management. My source in HR tells me it will be much bigger than last one.

They are going to drop the axe early October bc they have a heart and want to give those affected a chance before the holidays. Severance or not; it’s going to be a tough Xmas.

Guess I won’t be ordering the new iPhone afterall.

Bumped from @P0pG2iM-szkd for info.

People why you even worry ? you have great skills don't you ? so you will find next job in the next 1-2 weeks. Why panic - I don't understand this? all amazing and great developers got fired so what...? they will find new jobs.

@PtlB1fG-ths that is BS. If they let you go on a lay off you are not marked as non re hirable. I know a couple of folks who got a job at another position after they were let go.

Probably a ton of Airline Delivery will be gone, as there's no one left to deliver to.

@PtlB1fG-jei

Even if it is targeted and not a shotgun across the org, it will likely miss the proper targets, like VD, PJ, etc.

The rumors were originally 27%. I can see that happening, but in 9% intervals each time. Let's see what happens as everything goes to the cloud. Systems people gone. With dev team re-orgs, massive cuts to do more with less. Little silos with non integrated products are easier to hsck and slash. Keep in mind Ching-Chang Saoji and Jose Paco have histories of shipping all the US jobs to India. Look it up.

@PtlB1fG-ths if they mark you are 'Not rehireable', its only for Sabre. If you apply to Sabre in the future, HR will look at the flag and will not consider you. It should have no impact to your job search elsewhere.

There is life after Sabre. You'll notice quickly how bad it really was and question why you ever stayed. Your life balance will be much better, your pay will be higher, and looking back, you'll notice how bad the poor executive leadership team is/was. How has Jan Altemeier lasted this long?

Praying that those on the list have already been looking and are ahead of the Sabre plans. I still foresee a need for clean up in leadership - we will see if that unfolds this round of layoffs. Often times I think, does C level leadership really know what their downline leadership is doing? When I went to Sabre had NO idea it was 'known' as a hire to fire company. I was actually shocked to read that AFTER being let go on stellar performance (proven numbers). I also read that someone else said that once you are let go you are marked 'not rehireable" - my assumption is that will HURT those looking for jobs. It is incredible that they can do this to people and get away with it. So not only do they take away your livelihood with Sabre but they prevent you from getting hired elsewhere? Any input or knowledge on that from your HR contact?
