Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Forced to work 24 hour shift and crashed company car

Just been laid off after crashing company vehicle. My boss made me work through 24 hour cement job with no breaks and I fell asleep at the wheel in way home and hit a street light. No injuries but I got laid off by the company. Can anybody recommend a lawyer to sue for unfair dismissal - I really need a hotshot lawyer with winning track record against big companies

This is an International bad habit for Schlumberger...SLB force people to work long hours..don't pay any overtime because this is f---ing company spirit ....How the 16 hrs rule in journey management can be legal ??

how a company can force employees to works 15......20hrs days !! Time to fight

Sorry to hear you have lost your job. Hope better things happen to you.

You have to stay strong and prove it to yourself it was just a job.

Bump anything on company time, fired and sent home. Company policy for many years. This happens more than you think. If you are foreiner you get

transfered back. NEVER CAUSE A RECORDABLE INCIDENT.

24hr long shifts happen in the oilfield. I assume you spoke to the site safety officers, Company man as well as you manager and they all told you to drive home rather than get a ride to a hotel or get some sleep in the company vehicle... Otherwise you case is based on the choice you made to drive when you knew you were in an unfit state..

If you had crashed into someone and hurt them do you think the Police would blame the company or would you be up in court?

In West Texas we do 36 hours with no sleep on some frac jobs so we can keep our jobs and keep costs down. My supervisor told us it's this way or the high way

The boss and employee should star in the remake of 'Dumb and Dumber'. Two fools looking for their next mishap.

Your boss should have been fired along with you.

How could he force you to work 24 hours and not get you a taxi or a ride home?? You both screwed up, but your boss should have planned for you to have a ride home and back to work.

I thought SLB was all about safety with their quest and driver training?

Actually most of layoff cases been avoided by compensation from slb or judge decided in favor of the employees, I would suggest seek lawyer advise. It won't cost you more than 300 for initial letter.

You don't have the money to fight and beat Schlumberger in court. We never lose.

Forget about it and move on.

I disagree with ckq. You will lose. No one 'made' you work 24 straight hours and no one forced you to get behind the wheel of car after you foolishly deprived yourself of sleep.

You will win.

Don't sign any document for now.
