Worst Departments

Anybody have any insight on which departments have the most toxic environment? I hear rumblings daily.

Denver is toxic green slime. Just look around at how quickly some people worked up the ranks from line supervisors to managers and directors and vice presidents. With only 1 "360" in their entire APC career. Who is 100% honest on these? With how small some teams are, it's quite easy to determine who wrote what. Some incompetents sXitting in their seats less than a year sometimes before next promotion. Really? What sane company is run this way? No wonder the good people leave or are always on the lookout.

And then there are the advisors. WTF do they contribute other than being a warm body?

The worst department is mine. I no this because I head the department.

True. But since when has being qualified been a job requirement at APC? If you dig into any department you’ll see managers are appointed based on cronyism, not qualifications.

Heard the top accounting folks aren’t CPA qualified and some don’t even have a college degree. Is that true?

AAET. Most egotistical group in the whole place. The managers have 0 sense about technology, they just hide behind buzzwords and spend money like drunken sailors to avoid being seen for not producing anything. If you’re constantly touting something new, no one remembers you didn’t produce anything with the last 50 things you bought.

Run by toxic morons, which seems to be the culture from top down in IT.

Want to save money? Outsource the entire IT group. With how fast we are shrinking the company and selling assets, we will be able to manage the entire company on clip boards!

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Just come out and say it for f--- sake. But if one group is really that bad, shining a light on it may unleash a reign of terror on staff suspected of being ungrateful.

My vote is Legal. There is a Lestat like character, a few petulant children, affairs and other scandals, and they are all egotists who really believe they are the smartest people in any room. But they aren't. And it almost like watching a farce to see them in action.

All departments are unique and special in their own way. Everyone offers their own extraordinary flare and personality in their respective roles through knowledge sharing to helping others with tasks to providing an environment that cultivates learning which is coupled with personal and professional growth. Even when I was led down the hallway to the elevator on the twelfth floor on March 10, 2016, I still felt as though as was part of something special…something unique and gratifying. Even now, I start my day with a Core Values moment that signifies the beginning of another great day. Thank you APC for showing me the way (and the door). I will always remember you with love and wish only the best in your future endeavors.

I side with the other two who said accounting. From the top down that department's rotten to the core. It's run (notice I didn't say led) by a demonic midget for crying out loud......a man so evil he can't look you in the eye when he talks to you.

Come on. We all know which department is truly worst. Think about. Which department do you deal with that is the most f---ed up on the inside? Not which one is a little f---ed up but you deal with them a lot so it seems worse. Not which one has a few really f---ed up people who seem to get away with murder. Not which one seems less f---ed up because it's got a few good people who buffer their department's f---eduppedness. But which one is truly f---ed up to its core. So f---ed up that Kafka would say "Holy sh-- is that f---ed up!" This is the one department in the whole company that has no appeal to you. The very thought of working for it brings revulsion. Think it feel it then say it.

Phat pholly gets my award for the worst leader at APC. About three years ago I dropped a deuce that looked exactly like him, right down to his chubby little rat face. To this day I wonder if we sat that dooker in an office in Granite Tower, would this company be better off than it is now? I think it would.

  1. HR. The last VP with her genius stupidity ruined that department. Ran off anyone with any brains. 2. Next accounting. Zero leadership. 3. IT Insane leaders that waste tons of money. The whole damn company is Toxic.

Muscular Dystrophy (5.11a) in Eldorado Canyon is a great climb that takes stoppers and small cams up to 3 inches. I climbed this route about 11 years ago and remember the crux being difficult but not too bad. The West Ridge is great for the after work climb if you're feeling it. Get on it!

I doubt this is phishing by HR or at least it is not sanctioned phishing. They wouldn't try to get people to air their dirty laundry in a public forum. They ruthlessly enforce the smiles spray painted across the employees faces. Unless...have we finally abandoned any hope of reclaiming our much beloved label of best workplace? Are we finally embracing our true strengths to become worst workplace?

Have to agree with the prior post regarding the Accounting group. Not a leader in the bunch. Very good at intimidation management and running off some great people. If you are not a manager's friend, you are go on the list. Lots of mid-management positions filled by placing mini-me's as underlings.

It is hard pick one. And you can't compare unless you've worked in different departments or groups.

Look for high turnover. Look for a dysfunctional personality in the middle of the organization that everyone has to work around and can't be marginalized because he/she is too senior or too vocal. Look for egomaniacs in charge who are focused on managing their careers more than doing their jobs and who dole out rewards and punishment based on whim or to who they think is cool or who is the most sycophantic. Look for the rank and file in the department who feel like they expendable on a whim and so need to compete with their peers to curry favor with their management.

Sound like your department? It sure sounds like mine and every other department I interact with.

Like I said. It's hard to pick one.

Accounting is close to rock bottom. Worst leadership among any department at the company.

Most toxic to the company? EC and HR. Poisonous to everything they come in contact with.

On the other hand Legal is a big bunch of clowns who always make me chuckle. Get more of them silly lawyers.

Very clever. HR and the Management team using this site to get the real scoop that should have been on the 360 forms. Wait, how much did that worthless process cost the company in man hours and admin? Another failed bit. None of the toxic employees were allowed to provide comments. Every thing is rosy! I now have to get back to my hour and a half lunch right after I hit the gym.
