After so many unexpected layoffs around,I learned as an employee:

Never fall in love with employer

Relationship between employee and employer is a contract and there is an end date to all contracts, either employer goes under , death, layoff, retirement,fire,quit....

Love what you do and always have plan B and 2nd income.

Be prepared and don't give a damn to news like this.
One more thing, slb isn't that great when you are out and work for someone else. Slb will be just a memory.
