Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Continuous threat of layoffs

Anybody else really, really tired of layoffs always hanging over our heads? I just realized recently, the health issues I've been having are caused by stress and constant worry over my job. This should not be our reality, but unfortunately it is. I am nearing a point where getting laid off would be a welcomed push I need to change my situation...

@2zkp - Oh, I don't know, maybe because it's not all about me. I left quite a few awesome people behind when I voluntarily left. Letting others know that there is life and prosperity outside of that pit might just help get good people who are stuck, out.

2zkp - why do you assume jobless and sour grapes go together? Maybe the sour grapes you reference are people that got jobs right away because they keep their skills up but don't like being treated like this (laid off).....so yay that makes sour grapes. the real question is why are checking this site? You looking for information on when is the next layoff?

If you left Cisco, why are you folks still posting here? Jobless sour grapes?

Lost over forty pounds. Quit the anti-anxiety drug with side effects. Tough on the wallet, but, that was not living. Starting my own business where I'll have a jerk for a boss, but I'll know what he's thinking.

I stopped exercising. I figured the constantly elevated heart rate and blood pressure from the LR hammer hanging overhead is good enough. :)

I am 50+, i was bored and frustrated for a long time, but I did not put enough effort to get out until i was pushed out last year. I did not invest time on resume and searching until i got the pink slip. But I turned things around quickly and got offers within a month. Life is actually much better for me now. So don't be afraid, pretend that you were already on the LR list and you have a huge mortgage to pay... you will get another job, trust yourself :)

I am in same boat. Constant threat of LR is taking toll on my family and personal health. I am now actively looking for a job but no luck so far. Let's see. I am 40+ so suspecting my age maybe playing a role here.

100% unhealthy. Left 6 months ago on my terms, my health and bank account have never been better.

It is just a job.....You can spit right now and hit 4 job opportunities (I just did and just left Cisco, believe me it is so easy to get a tech job right now). Cisco does not care about you, and never has. Why do you give 2 ****s about them?

Look at it for what it is, a paycheck. Nothing more, just a paycheck

@qsn: "Shadow Sniper".....that is gold right there.

You and the needs of your family > Cisco.

There's more to tech than just that place. While it was once a really fun/cool place to be, it has not been that in a very long time. Why suffer ill effects for a company that does not care to stop the cycle of turnover that is impacting you, and many others similarly?

Several years ago I got to the point where always feeling crosshairs on my back was too much of a distraction, and I left. It was, indeed, really difficult at first to break out of my comfort zone and to cut the Cisco cord.

Ended up in a better job, with better people, with better compensation, and grew beyond what I ever could have been had I stayed at Cisco until that shadow sniper finally pulled the trigger.

You will do better out of a job and sane, that in a job where you are losing your health and your mind.

Cut the cord. There is life after Cisco. Really....there is.

If it's a welcome push, head on out. There's plenty of work in tech right now. Only company doing layoffs is Cisco (and Oracle if you were in HW).
