Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Anybody else hates the word restructuring?

Restructuring has become a new way to announce layoffs without actually having to say the word. It's mildly put annoying and a huge cop-out. A title with restructuring and Walmart in it does not seem as bad as one with layoffs and Walmart, I guess.

Yeah. It's like something out of 1984. It's a way to say you fired people without saying the word fired.

People wonder why corporations don't get anything done. It's because they talk a lot but the words mean less and less these days. Doublespeak is a thing.

retrench

phase out

scale down

My "favorite" is "displaced." One of the former EVP's in Finance used that term, A LOT.
