Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

I love my job in Schlumberger - I am truly blessed.

I work as an HR manager and I juts love being around Schlumberger people and all the hiring and firing going on. It keeps me on my toes and I am well paid for it too.

The secret to a great career in Schlumberger is work hard, and I mean very hard and you will do well.

I dont understand why HR put this message here, the only reason is to insult laid off people.

I am not Indian and I don't like people who bring race into discussion, that is just wrong.

I know you got hurt by layoff like I did and still am.

I have seen many different type of people in every different races. Being bad or good isn't related to race.

Kumar is bringing food to table for his children and wife, everything is right about that.

If he wasn't scared of his job and was feeling safe he wouldn't have been here on this board, would he ?

You can't avoid layoffs, as a manager you should do it and layoff some or everyone will lose job. Unfair or biased layoff are always there and everywhere in every industries! Some more some less.

HR isn't the decision maker. They have to make sure to be fair and if not in middle of battle between employer and employee, they dent toward employee.

I think it is good you still have job and don't ever think you are safe, keep saving and don't forget if you loose your job you won't have any friends man!

having a job is great, a manager position is even better but I wouldn't like to have all that lay offs on my conscious. Destroying people livelihoods and families is a terrible job. Good luck

Indian HR Managers are very good loyal servants who don't need high salary to be happy. They are happy with the job the do.

Don't miss people like you or that place one bit, I just come here to reaffirm that thought. It would take ten times my old pay and I would still probably say hell no to going back. Life is better once you are out of that place you HR putz whoever you are.

I graduate from Schlumberger university for leaders in Delhi. My parents work hard to have me accepted in such a prestigious company. I am truly honoured and eternally grateful for this gift from others to me. Not as HR manager I return this gift to new hire graduates and help them become successful in Schlumberger like me. It is a wonderful company and blessing to be part of big blue.

HR is a really difficult and stressful job. It is not easy to lay off people and end their livelihood. This creates stress for the HR team during oil crisis. Please show some respect for this person and his achievements in the company. Well done my brother - we are proud of you my friend.

Schlumberger, as we say in HR is survival of the fittest and to survive and grow you have to work very very hard and also be smart and come from the best universities. We only want the brightest and best of talent and there is no easy lunch with us. Many people cant handle this kind of stress and we understand that and best to move on in this case. I myself was brought up in tough circumstances in poor family from India but thanks to Schlumberger and my hard work I am now HR manager with people working for me. I am truly blessed and thankful for this

I often run a woodland path to maintain my fitness but the sad reality is that over 95% of the men and women I come across are morbidly obese, disgustingly fat, disturbingly ugly or a combination of these. The world is drowning in garbage and soon it will be surrounded by fat folk as well.

Working hard made no difference to me if a manager does not like you and the culture is one of bullying and favorites it does not matter how hard you work. If HR FOOLS like you did your job right then working hard would benefit a good employee but it does not, poor week HR and bullying managers well you lot are a waste of time and space you could not manage a playground full of kids. I would use stronger language but I fear the post would be deleted.
