Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

next january

store structure will look different this time next year. there will be a big push to in january to access ASK HR. managers and associates will need to use the ASK HR tab on insite for any questions regarding anything from payroll to MCO.

positions in the company will be realigned and with less people and more responsibility. there are stores all in different areas of the country that are "pilot" stores for something. these are examples of what is to come.

THE AST TEAM IS THE GLUE THAT KEEPS THE STORE GOING. THEY ARE UNDER APPRECIATED FOR ALL THE UNSEEN HARD WORK THEY DO. I THINK THE REASON THEY WILL ALLOW THEM TO PICK UP HOURS IS TO MAINTAIN THEIR HIRE AVAILABILITY HOURS FOR THE WEEK. THEY WILL ALSO, BE ABLE TO FLEX UP HOURS IN AST DURING KEY WEEKS AND SCALE BACK .IT'S A WIN WIN SITUATION FOR THE COMPANY BECAUSE MOST OF AST ORIGINALLY CAME FROM THE SELLING FLOOR AND WERE KEY ASSOCIATES PROMOTED TO AST.

Regarding AST---why do you suppose they are allowing the AST associates to pick up selling shifts....?

How can they cut AST again? Some stores are only budgeted at 60 hours a week.

Sorry, it's RBP..Responsibility Base Performance. Have you ever been written up before???? Ask your HR . Don't let them give you the run around and tell you not to worry. Get the answer now, it's your right to know..just in case. Also, for those of you who have not taken your vacation find a balance were you still accumulate vacation days save some of it for the future. I knew a couple of managers that were layed off that had not taken vacation and , would of had extra weeks of vacation paid, but the system stop feeding vacation days due to not taking them .They lost an opportunity to have extra money on their final pay. Summit your January- February vacation now!!! and use your sick days November and December..don't let them make you feel bad for calling out...They won't when they terminate your job in February. Any more questions let me know. Read the post January 2018 on how they will lay you off.

Heads up!!! They will hold off telling who will be term until two weeks before it happens. They will feed you bits and pieces of information ,and tell you, you can apply for other positions that are half your salary. When you have any questions they will give you the run around ,so they can double check with HR.By the time you meet with HR a few days before your term they will have a big package with all the information they will review it fast and ,ask if you have any questions also, you can have your lawyer review it . " like you have a lawyer at your beck and call"They make it a point to show you a huge stack of papers that contain the ages of the people being layoff, in case if you have an age discrimination question. Most of the young people in my store were with us less the six months. They make sure to leave one tenure person. You will have 7 days to sign and agree on the terms for you to receive your severance pay. If you have been on a RBS you will not qualify for severance pay. It will happen so fast you will be upset, overwhelmed and disappointed with MACY'S for the way they disposed of you after dedicated a huge part of your life to them. You and the team will be surprised on some of the members of the team kept...they are the new inexperience and half your salary management. Yes, you made a choice to work for them but, you also gave up a lot your children's and family birthdays, staying home when your kids are sick, your children's school events, out of town sick parents, family and friends visits . Holiday dinners and parties and family vacations....You ask why????? Because your store manager would not approve requested days off or vacations never a good time with deep dives, promotional calendar and big visits....exception to the rule store manager gave their favorite the time off ..last minute changes on the schedules or sometimes it would not reflect on the schedule. You count days not approved. Coming in sick to work because you were made to feel that it was wrong ,or that you were not a team player if you called out. What is the point of having sick days if you can't use them.Good Luck!!

I work at Union Square in San Francisco where the regional offices are based. We see the regional people on the sales floor all the time and many of them come out to walk and talk on their cell phones so they won’t be overheard in the office. Stock people and managers are usually ignored and we over hear a lot of things. The other day the regional boss lady was discussing big changes in January. I don’t think it is fair that the company is planning what sounds like a huge restructuring and not giving employees as much notice as possible so they can start looking for jobs, instead of waiting until it has milked every ounce of energy and life out of them for the holidays.

Yep - January is the next "purge." Just before the new budget opens up. Look for more store closings, (60ish), widespread reduction in AST, changes in responsibilities (more and more with fewer and fewer staff). Enjoy the season because all heck is going to break loose in January.
