The other day we had a survey crew at my store. Our manager asked them about it and they said all they knew was they were ordered to survey a bunch of stores for sears. Anyone else see this going on ?

everyone's posts, seem to be spot on.
they did he same at the store i was at. We were told , a furniture store would be in one level and we would be downsized, in the other level... yup.... nope.... 6 months later... we were liquidating.
and you dont wanna stay after the last day of store opening.
If you can employment before the store closes.... take it.
same here crew came in about 6 months later we closed
I had a survey crew come to mine store a while back. It's been a year since though.
@PZI3CoF-1dxg Damn! You might be working at my Kmart because that sounds about the same crap I have to put up with!!
Kmart that is leased. Roof always leaks, people always run out with carts full of stuff, and min wage keeps going up
sears store here in illinois in a mall that has 2 levels going to 1 level and a movie theater is moving in on the other...
We had this a few months back. Rumor was someone was interested in purchasing the building we lease but nothing has occurred yet. They checked the roof, performed tests on different equipment and checked for asbestos
Let's think about this. Condition of roof, any buried fuel oil or gasoline tanks . Asbestos issues , Exact things broker asks when listing a property.
Sorry, but your time is going to be up soon. They usually are looking for asbestos, and other hazardous material such as in ground storage tanks for oil from the auto center,as well as electrical, roofing, hvac, and structural issues that may come up when they reconfigure.Good luck.Been there and done that.I spent a day taking the inspector all over the store and got him to talk about why they were inspecting.
What state are your stores in? Michigan here no survey crews yet ours is a lease store
You're done.
We had the survey crews at my store this last week. My store is leased
@kiu - Same here! About four months before they announced our closing, survey and utility crews were marking and staking our parking lot. In fact, some of the utility line work started about that time. After they announced our store was closing, rumor spread that our leased store was to be subdivided to accommodate new tenants. That is exactly what took place; our store was gutted to the block walls and reconfigured to house three new retailers.
Our Store Is Still Owned By Shc. I was thinking maybe eddie was going to buy it and lease it back to us but time will tell. And my resume has been ready for some time now...lol
My previous store that is now closed had this same thing done ... oh lets say about 3 months before we were announced to be closing, we were a leased store BTW , don't know if your store is a owned store leased or Eddie owns it, but not looking good for your store either way good luck to you . Hope your resume is up to date
