On yesterday’s call RD couldn’t answer a simple question about overall POS trends. How does he not know the answer???!! Worst case, couldnt he just look at one of the reports that are sent out weekly and read off the answer? Maybe he was too busy taking selfies with his cardboard cutout in the lobby (seriously). You wonder why the company is tanking when the top execs don’t even know the fundamentals of the business. All this as employees now broadly fear for their jobs. There must be more accountability at the executive level!! If RD is simply expected to be a creative, great, but then his responsibilities should be redefined. Please don’t put him on an investor call ever again

I read the entire Q3 transcript and took away several things other than the terrible way below expectations/results of the quarter. I thought it was pretty funny how the new CFO said at least 3 times how new he was and he made it obvious that he wasn't responsible for the mess we're in financially. He reminded me of Hilary Cinton.........
I also noticed that RD didn't speak much, not even 1/4 of what he usually spews. Hhuumm, what could that mean???? He could be outta here but it really won't matter, he'll leave with millions of blood money but perhaps, just perhaps MGo will wipe out all his no talent sycophant minions but that would be to good to be true.
Unfortunately ambition and posing is effective in today's business culture, especially with a bunch of new senior execs and a board who have no knowledge of the business, easy to snow people if your a decent talker. It's often shocking how long people can hang on when the inevitable seems so evident. Evidence, a 20 year board member took over the company, how'd that work out? Is that person still on the board?
Excellent last post...it is a shame that such a self serving, ego driven, narcissist can prevail. No worries, karma is coming to pay him a visit soon.
Wow. Point is accountability. RD is a hollow figure who expects the world to bow and tell him how amazing he is. He builds teams of people who don't ask questions or talk back. CK. Come on. No strategy. Complacent. Adoring. A little freaked out right now. RD is great at throwing creative talent under the bus. JD, EM anyone? And then the deal he's made with the other narcissist - SM. Pretty smart, but no interest in Mattel's core purpose. Posers all. And the board and company has let them take an amazing global company in the toilet. HR - what a waste. MG - what are you doing? Look forward to the day RD is out ... he has bucks (sold his soul) but he'll see ... he just isn't all that. Pretty ridiculed by all. Pathetic. Self serving. Accountable. He has enough of a soul that he might regret his choices. I'm struck by the voices that say people are whining. People like RD have sold people's careers for his own adulation. Who ever is posting "work harder and be a good player" is from a time far far away. Millennials unite and take the company back.
I really hate skinny jeans on men.
Don't get me started on those redhead millennial scumbags! 😤
@oldie but goodie...wasn’t YOUR comment posted during work hours? I think the issue is the workforce is feeling like they’re paying for mistakes they don’t have an opinion or control over. Management screws up = lower level layoffs. And regarding your “you are to blame” comment...aren’t we all? Everyone’s just standing around pointing fingers in every direction but no one is standing up to say, what can we be doing differently? How can I help? Should we assume more or less risk? Personally I think we’re trying to target a market that doesn’t want us. And then we’re also trying to paint them in a prettier picture than they actually are. Millennials, and even gen z, aren’t brand loyal. They don’t care about longevity or historical and reputable companies. They marry the same s-x. They adopt. They have tattoos in visible places. They have red hair...unicorn hair even! They care about the now, the trends, what’s viral. “What’s in NOW that I can post about?” not so much “I bought this plastic toy from an ancient company that does ‘almost’ the same thing every year....cool”
If you care more about your employment status than the state of the company...go ahead and be a quitter. You’re holding the rest of us back
I’m convinced RD comments on this site. All the cheap shots at millennials is a theme here & he frequently uses that term in his speeches. I agree with the original poster. All the changes M-Go has made so far have been good. But everybody knows the biggest failure in Mattel’s system - the main thing hindering Mattel’s recovery - is the same person who couldn’t answer a basic question about the business on yesterday’s call. He’s like Mattel’s elfin version of Trump.
Recently hired employees need to be asking same question that he shareholders and veterans are asking of management. When does this company improve the basic finances and grow revenue and jobs?? Forget questions about solar powered buildings and sustainability. Who gives a sh€}#t about that stuff. If management is incapable of leadership, sack them and challenge their contracts.. Shareholders would agree also.
Sorry, but there must be more accountability from the Millennials here. Pointing fingers at executives while expecting trophies for twittering away online and not doing your jobs! YOU are to blame!
