Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Lol

This company is run by leaders who last stepped foot in a school 40 years ago. Pre technology..Pre Apple..Pre cordless anything... No wonder the young lads at Amazon are eating there breakfast, lunch and dinner while leaving them with the bill.

It is apparent that the OP has never "stepped foot" in a school. Ever.

Think about it. Someone who got out of school forty years ago, would be retired by now. I got out of school forty years ago and I was part of the tech revolution. I was building web sites while you were still in diapers.

The problem is that Sears is being run by people who aren't retail people. They hire a bunch of young MBAs who have never worked in a store and let them make decisions.

Whenever you come accross a post such as this, look for the post with the facts that the troll is attempting to divert your attention from with old-school disruptive chatroom antics.

And as long as Wall St. is calling the "shots," you're just selling your soul to just one GIANT company store... it's a fascist/corporatist oligarchy...

"No matter where you go... there you are.."

Welcome to the Western World...

Enjoy your Amazon/Wal-Mart opportunities... and BIG GOVERNMENT...

@nik I agree with what you are saying. I just hate to see everything blamed on Eddie Lampert, and no I am not Eddie. He just isn't a merchant. We needed a strong merchant after Martinez left.

@jmf - "No one has thought we were high and mighty since around the 90's." You are correct, however, by that time Sears was 20+ years behind the leading retail competitors. It was a stretch to believe that any number of younger MBAs could restore Sears to relevance burdened with that type of handicap. Ray Kroc stated it best, "When you're green, you're growing. When you're ripe, you rot."

@maq Hasn't been that way for years. We had all sorts of younger MBA's come in to try to run the company all to no success. No one has thought we were high and mighty since around the 90's.

@dof - As a Sears retiree I totally agree with you. Sears stopped being a forward thinking company in the 70s. From that point on Sears rested on its laurels and slapped down anyone who had a forward looking idea. All you heard from management was how high and mighty Sears was in the past and that any new fangled ideas were simply a passing fad that would never amount to anything. Sure, consumers were temporarily mesmerized by these new retail trends, however, once they snapped back to their senses, they would come flocking back to Sears. Sears management should of heeded the sled dog analogy; only the leader of the pack has a promising view!

It’s not just the leaders who are dated and need upskilling, but almost every other person working at SHC. The bulk of the managers and directors in the call centers are old farty women over 50. The technology implementation team as well as the process improvement team stank of the 80s and 90s- crusty, grumpy types who think they are always right and their old way the right way. It’s no wonder this company fell apart. Complacency = death.

Well, he did it again! What an imbecile. And I don't work at Sears and you certainly won't find me rummaging around during their liquidation. And the lack of a proper education should be of concern to somebody.

Lets see how many more minions are concerned with a strangers grammer rather than keeping the family fed and warm this winter. It's going to be a cold one and guess what? People are not coming to your run down store for anything because they are waiting for the liquidation sale.

Everyone knows this company is done besides those on the inside that aren't thinking objectively. This is a sad story of greed and corruption that will be taught to the next generations. Short term goals out weighing long term success and one man's greed destroys an american staple.
