CB&I is asking a good friend of mine to join them in a fairly senior position. Is what I'm seeing from the posts on this site indicating a) a sinking ship or b) changes necessary to turn it around?

I'm surprised existing redundancies can't be repurposed. Or is it just that older, very loyal employees just cost too much and need to go regardless? The layoff goal is stated in dollars. Not headcount. Not skills. Not vision for a more efficient workforce. Just dollars.
No leadership. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!
CB&I cannot recruit quality talent. Nobody with skills wants to work for these crooks. If I was your friend I would stay away. It is his/her life.
Hey if he's stupid enough to come here, this really could be his best option.
Sure your friend could find a job with a more reputable company. CB&I not a very good option right now.
We don't have enough people to meet our layoff targets so we need to hire up.
They recruited several people at facility i worked at. 5 months later they announced it was closing....
