Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

Everything is up for sale

Everything is up for sale. Tech is all but sold and the proceeds will go directly to paying off debt. After the tech sale there will still be no cash flow or capital to finance new projects. That is why every assets that can be sold will be sold. CB&I is done they will go back to being SPS construction co. There never were any smart people there.

Sad but true, @PQlMxup-1vpa. I used to think we would recover from where the incompetent management brought us in the past several years, but even I have to admit it's over. I am now looking for a new job in anticipation of next round of layoffs.

Once you sell your soul, it's easy to get rid of anything else and everyone else.

No you're wrong. The stock price can NEVER recover. After the most profitable operations are sold off there will never be enough earnings to support prior stock prices. Paying off the debt might save the company from bankrupt. But it removes the leverage benefits when good times come back if they ever do. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Cbi will not be taken over and the stock will recover if we can get through these unattractive quarters. I don't see the new management choices as wise for longterm solutions, as they seem out of sync with the fields theyre being placed over.

I'm sure you're right. The institutional investors and the board aren't going to wait and see what's left over after the banks pick over Cbi's carcass. They are actively looking for some way to cash out for the most money. And f--- the employees.

There's more to this than you think. Why change fs leadership when fs is actually performing quite well? Why would anyone buy technology for $2 from a company that is only worth $1.5? What changes will the board demand now that their stock is underwater with NO chance of recovery?

The young guys usually get moved in the top spots right before a takeover. It gives their careers one last boost and maybe keeps our guys in charge of the combined company. The old guys would get forced out anyway after a merger.

Cbi stock will never get back to its old levels. The path of least resistance to a big payday is a takeover.
