Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Whirlpool is gone

Whirlpool products are no longer on sears.com. This could be just the begining of big named vendors pulling out.

The whirlpool Sears marriage lasted decades but counseling over the past 10 years has just led to more bitterness and now finally complete separation. The Amazon Kenmore rendezvous was likely the last straw. Whirlpool has now missed their forecast for consecutive quarters. While they are still very profitable, they are losing market share to the LGs and Samsungs of the world. Whirlpool has been in legal battles over the years with some Asian manufacturers over unfair business practices. Now Sears has given the Amazon platform to foreign manufacturers through the Kenmore name. Although Whirlpool has tried to downplay the impact, I am pretty sure they were not too happy about that.

@1xjz must be a moron to think that not having whirlpool, Maytag, jenn air, etc. available through Sears will have minimal impact. Certain customers are loyal to certain brands and whirlpool is the largest appliance manufacturer in the world. LG is not all that great. I used to work in appliances and would never buy one of their products. There will be an announcement tomorrow about this matter. I visited my old store manager at the store and he smiled and told me he had been instructed by his manager to talk as little about it as possible. All their whirlpool, kitchenaid, Maytag and jenn air products will be 991'd

Sears has plenty of other suppliers (LG making most of Kenmore now).

Can't believe this news hasn't hit the press. Whirlpool just announced their earnings, no mention of i there either. I believe they are not selling to SHLD, just surprised this isn't bigger news today.

The stock price will 120 dollars tommorrow on this news. Eddie is our saviour. Funny I actually remember when it was. With this price and made a bunch of money when jumped from 80 bucks to 120. Glad I sold it at the time and bought my new 1 million dollar house and a new yacht just like eddies. Eddie made me rich.

They will be lucky if the stock reaches $8 ever. They are finished.

Oh yes, Sears no longer carrying Whirlpool appliances is just an ordinary vendor issue. Whirlpool is only the world's largest manufacturer of appliances, and is carried by Lowes, Home Depot, and Best Buy. This will have a huge impact on Sears, and there will likely be a cascading effect with other vendors. The impact down the line will be enormous, and arriving soon. Good luck to those of you still working at Sears.

Big retailers change manufacturers and vendors all the time. The company drops a manufacturer or supplier when terms cannot be agreed upon or when supplies of components change price.

One example: Panasonic compressors found in a lot of Whirlpool products are the most expensive in the industry. It doesn't mean they are the best, however.
